The original photograph was taken in September 2004 whilst walking through the Pass of Killiecrankie. It had been a very wet Summer and the place was teeming with fungi. This tree stump looked completely magical, covered in moss and with what looked like a whole community of toadstools living within it. 

I then hauled out the cliches and found some stock architecture to cut and paste into position (using a fair bit of warp tool) and painted in the shadows in order to blend it all in.

Unfortunately the camera was a rather amateur Fujifinepix so the colour profile is a bit wishy washy.
